LONG QUEUES FOR FREE TESTS IN PAPHOS AND CHRYSOCHOUS TOWN

 Filenews 16 November 2020

Queues formed from 9 a.m. outside the Municipal Office of Paphos and Chrysochous Town, where free tests are offered for the entire population at the initiative of the Ministry of Health.

Sampling crews operate from the morning in the square of October 28th, in front of the Municipal Palace, until 5.00pm for this purpose. A similar free examination is also carried out in Chrysochous Town, in front of the Municipal Palace until 1 p.m.

The Ministry of Health points out that this is a simple procedure of just five minutes and calls on the public of the province to undergo the relevant sampling in order to be able to stop the transmission of the virus.

At the same time, we recall that yesterday the Ministry also announced the extension of free samples for workers going from Paphos to the other provinces for work until tomorrow Tuesday, due to the very large participation of citizens yesterday. Specifically: The programme of control of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Provinces of Paphos and Limassol continues, the Ministry of Health says in a statement. Due to the high interest of workers who fall under the categories of exemptions for travel to and from the Provinces of Limassol and Paphos, in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Health, and from Wednesday, 18 November 2020, at 5 a.m., should present in case of a test negative test result (PCR test), the Ministry of Health informs that sampling will continue today and Tuesday , at specified sampling points.

The persons concerned may be examined either in their Province of Residence or in their Province of Work, providing an employer's Certificate. It is noted that the sampling points in the Limassol and Paphos Provinces have been modified, and the necessary arrangements have been made to make tests available in all Provinces. Finally, it should be noted that this programme is addressed only to workers included in the categories of exemptions in the relevant Decree, is carried out using the PCR method and is independent of the control programme using the rapid antigen detection method which begins today and concerns the general population.

It is also specified that the general population control programme with rapid antigen test will last 10 days and 500 tests per day per mobile unit will be carried out. Please note that in the event of a positive result in the rapid antigen test, the person should self-limit himself immediately and resampling will be carried out to confirm the result using the PCR method. This programme will be regularly renewed in order to carry out frequent population control and to detect possible outbreaks of the virus in a timely manner and to limit them.
