CORONAVIRUS - TWENTYSIX PEOPLE, TWO ESTABLISHMENTS FINED FOR BREACHING RESTRICTIONS

Police booked 26 individuals and two establishments over the past 24 hours for violating coronavirus restrictions.

A spokesman said the force conducted 2,383 checks across the island in the past 24 hours, most in Nicosia.

Out 713 checks in the capital and surrounding areas, police booked two individuals while one person and two establishments were reported in Limassol during 321 inspections.

Six people were issued fines in Larnaca during 326 checks in the district and eight in Paphos where officers carried out 290 checks.

In the Famagusta district, police conducted 605 checks, reporting five people in the process.

One individual and one establishment were booked in the Morphou area during 105 checks. Marine police conducted 23 checks without reporting anyone.

Police said they had also turned around 85 vehicles at checkpoints in Limassol and Paphos, which are under partial lockdown.
