Another 216 new cases of coronavirus are announced today by the Ministry of Health through molecular PCR tests. In addition, the molecular test method verified the positive result for 94 positive test samples detected through the rapid antigen test method in the previous days. In addition, a positive rapid test result was not verified by the molecular test. Positive rapid antigen detection tests confirmed by the PCR method are included in the number of daily occurrences and the total number of cases below.

However, of the 12,895 laboratory tests, 6,584 laboratory diagnoses were carried out using the molecular method (PCR), with 216 cases of COVID-19, resulting as follows:

  • Of 684 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 98 cases were identified.
  • Of 2,001 samples taken through a private initiative, 71 cases were detected.
  • Of 427 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 10 cases were identified.
  • Of 34 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics, 2 cases were identified.
  • Of 1,498 samples taken in Limassol Province as part of a check of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 13 cases were detected.
  • Of 408 samples taken in Larnaca Province as part of a check of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 6 cases were detected.
  • Of 399 samples taken in nicosia as part of a check of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 1 case was detected.
  • Of 344 samples taken in Paphos Province under the control of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 4 cases were detected.
  • Of 260 samples taken under the laboratory testing programme carried out in nursing homes and other structures, 3 cases were identified.
  • Of 204 samples taken as part of the control programme for pupils, teachers and school staff, 1 case was identified.
  • Of 75 samples taken under the migrant structure control programme, 7 cases were identified.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • From samples taken in Famagusta Province as part of a check of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 59 laboratory diagnoses were completed,
  • From samples taken in the context of passenger and repatriated checks, 129 laboratory diagnoses were completed, and
  • From samples taken from the residents of Kato Pyrgos Tylliria, 62 laboratory diagnoses were completed.
