252 NEW CASES AND TWO DEATHS TUESDAY - PLUS 57 POSITIVE RAPID TESTS WHICH ARE SUBJECT TO PCR

Two deaths and 252 new incidents were announced Wednesday. These are two men aged 75 and 64. A total of 101 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals.

252 positive results were identified, of which 64 were for people who had tested positive in rapid-tests in the previous days and subsequently underwent a molecular examination and are now officially confirmed as cases. A positive result from a rapid test was not verified using the PCR method. A further 57 positive results were obtained from the rapid test.

The 3 incidents from the control program of nursing homes/rehabilitation centers/closed structures concern 2 tenants from the nursing home in Peristeron and one resident at the Apostle Paul Foundation in Liopetri.

The death of two COVID-19 patients is announced. The final cause of death is attributed to COVID-19 disease. In particular, they are:

- Male, aged 75, with underlying diseases, who was hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of nicosia General Hospital.

- Male, aged 64, with underlying diseases, who was hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of nicosia General Hospital.

The total number of deaths with covid-19 disease is 45.29 men (64%) and 16 women (36%), with an average age of 75 years.

The Ministry of Health informs that a total of 10,959 tests have now been carried out to detect COVID-19 disease.

A. Molecular Examination (PCR test): Of the 10,959 laboratory tests, 5,424 laboratory diagnoses were carried out using the Molecular Method (PCR), with 188 cases of COVID-19 disease resulting as follows:

  • Of 695 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 116 cases were identified.
  • Of 1,766 samples taken through a private initiative, 41 cases were detected.
  • Of 296 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 9 cases were identified.
  • Of 243 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics, 1 case was identified.
  • Of 734 samples taken in Limassol Province as part of a check of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 7 cases were detected.
  • Of 265 samples taken in Paphos Province as part of a check of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 5 cases were detected.
  • Of 128 samples taken in Larnaca Province as part of a check of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 1 case was detected.
  • Of 702 samples taken in the Nicosia Province as part of a check of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 3 cases were detected.
  • Of 90 samples taken as part of the control programme for pupils, teachers and school staff, 2 cases were identified.
  • Of 65 samples taken under the laboratory testing programme carried out in nursing homes and other structures, 3 cases were identified.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • From samples taken in the context of passenger and repatriated checks, 326 laboratory diagnoses were completed,
  • From samples taken in Famagusta Province as part of a check of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Provinces of Limassol and Paphos, 34 laboratory diagnoses were carried out, and
  • From samples taken from the residents of Kato Pyrgos Tylliria, 80 laboratory diagnoses were completed.

B. Antigen rapid test: Of the 10,959 tests, 5,535 were performed using the rapid test method, with 57 positive results, identified as follows:

In addition, the molecular test method verified the positive result for 64 positive test samples detected through the rapid antigen test method in the previous days. A positive rapid test result was not verified by the molecular test. Positive rapid antigen detection tests confirmed by the PCR method are included in the number of daily occurrences and the total number of cases below.

Therefore , and on the basis of the data so far, the total number of cases is 9199.

C. Hospitalized:

A total of 101 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, as follows:

Nine incidents in the occupied territories

Nine other people tested positive for the crown in the occupied territories in the last 24 hours.

In a written statement, "Health Minister" Ali Pyli said the nine cases were detected out of a total of 1,150 diagnostic tests.

Five are passengers spotted at the illegal airport, two have arrived in the occupied port, while two are infections that have been transmitted within the community.

The total number of cases reported in the occupied territories is 1,062. Five people have died from Covid-19 disease.
