248 NEW CASES SATURDAY, WHICH INCLUDES 69 CONFIRMED PCR TESTS ON RAPID TEST POSITIVES

The Ministry of Health informs that a total of 14,455 tests have now been carried out to detect COVID-19 disease. It is noted that 248 new cases have been identified, of which 69 relate to individuals, who in previous days had tested positive for rapid tests and subsequently underwent a molecular examination and are now officially confirmed as cases.

Of the 14,455 laboratory tests, 6,590 laboratory diagnoses were carried out using the molecular method (PCR), with 179 cases of COVID-19 disease resulting as follows:

  • Of 546 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 65 cases were identified.
  • Of 1,950 samples taken through a private initiative, 59 cases were identified.
  • Of 312 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 18 cases were detected.
  • Of 207 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics, 2 cases were identified.
  • Of 1,289 samples taken in Limassol Province as part of a check of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 4 cases were detected.
  • Of 775 samples taken in nicosia as part of a worker check that falls under the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 11 cases were detected.
  • Of 623 samples taken in Paphos Province as part of a check of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 11 cases were detected.
  • Of 126 samples taken as part of the control programme for pupils, teachers and school staff, 3 cases were identified.
  • Of 95 samples taken under the migrant structure control programme, 5 cases were identified.
  • Of 494 samples taken as part of a passenger and repatriated check, 1 case was identified.
  • In addition, the molecular test method verified the positive result for 69 samples of positive results detected through the rapid antigen test method in the previous days.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • From samples taken in Famagusta Province as part of a check of workers subject to the exemptions for travel to and from the Limassol and Paphos Provinces, 26 laboratory diagnoses were completed,
  • From samples taken in the Province of Larnaca under the control of workers who fall under the exemptions for travel to and from the Provinces of Limassol and Paphos, 144 laboratory diagnoses were carried out, and
  • From samples taken from the residents of Kato Pyrgos Tylliria, 3 laboratory diagnoses were completed.

Therefore, and on the basis of the data so far, the total number of cases amounts to 10,231.

C. Hospitalized:

In total, 114 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in OKYP Hospitals, as follows:
