It is noted that today's new cases include 14 PCR verifications of the positively detected incidents through the rapid antigen test method in the previous days. For the rest, the laboratory test with PCR has not yet been completed. Positive rapid antigen detection tests confirmed by the PCR method are included in the total number of cases below.

Therefore, and on the basis of the data so far, the total number of cases amounts to 7,711.

In addition, 57 people tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus at Famagusta General Hospital, six of whom are in the Increased Care Unit. In addition, a total of ten patients are hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital, four of whom are off the ventilator. Another ten people are being treated in a COVID-19 ward at nicosia General Hospital.

Laboratory test results using the rapid antigen detection method

Normally proceeds the population program applied in Cyprus with the method of rapid antigen rapid test, which are used molecular test enhancers (PCR tests) in the effort to control the spread of the virus.

In particular, today, 18 November 2020, a total of 3,049 rapid tests were carried out from the 11 mobile sampling units, of which 48 positive results were obtained. In detail, the rapid tests carried out by region, as well as the positives obtained, are presented in the table below:

Limassol, Paphos, Nicosia, Larnaka and Ammochostos.   2nd col Total no tests  3rd col Positive results

It is reported that individuals who tested positive for the rapid antigen detection method were informed and remain self-contained until the result is verified by the molecular test method (PCR test).
