DECREE ON ENTRY FROM COUNTRIES OTHER THAN CATEGORIES A OR B [for domestic helpers and workers]

The Minister of Health has issued a decree providing for specific arrangements for the entry into the Republic of persons from countries not falling within Categories A and B as announced by the Ministry and who, in order to obtain leave to work as domestic helpers and as workers in the field of agriculture and livestock farming by the competent departments and after approval by the Commission, which was defined by the Decision of the Council of Ministers last June.

Under the decree, certain conditions apply to their entry.

It is stated that the granting of the special entry permit is made on the basis of the order in which the application is submitted, which is registered in an electronic register, which is kept by the Ministry of the Interior.

Employers will also have to pre-pay the cost of accommodation of the above persons, for their mandatory restriction for a total period of 14 days from the date of arrival in tourist accommodations with which the Ministry of Tourism has contracted and the cost of carrying out two laboratory tests for the COVID-19 crown virus (one test upon arrival and a repeat test 12 days after their arrival).

It is clarified that it is understood that the total resulting costs associated with employers are determined by the Ministry of the Interior in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism.

The Decree also provides that employers who fall within the provisions of this Regulation personally cover the cost of transporting them to the tourist accommodation.

The Decree shall enter into force immediately by its publication in the Official Journal of the Republic.
