The phenomena recorded in foreign countries with the spread of the virus among people who participated in parties and other similar kinds of social gatherings, are observed in recent days in Cyprus, since more and more cases of COVID-19 arise through manifestations of mass gatherings.
The increase in cases mainly in younger people (up to 45), who participated in parties and other similar kinds of social gatherings, is of great concern and concern. Typical examples are the 4 cases of COVID-19, who attended both pool parties and other parties and had contact with more than 40 people, as well as the 8 cases detected after parties in the previous days, most of which show no symptomatology.
Both the above data and other smaller chains of virus spread among young and mostly asymptomatic individuals show that the risk of transmission of the virus is increased and the spread can be easily extended to other older or even vulnerable groups.
The task of each individual citizen is, responsibly and carefully, to prevent the occurrence of these phenomena, to break the chain of spread of the virus in the community and to ensure that the situation does not derail, with unforeseen and unpleasant consequences.
It again calls on all citizens to be extremely careful in their social contacts. In view of the high mobility of citizens expected to be recorded in the coming days due to the summer holidays, it is recalled the importance of respecting social distancing measures, as well as individual precautionary rules, such as frequent washing of hands with soap and water, the use of an alcoholic antiseptic, the use of masks in enclosed spaces with a high concentration of people or where this is mandatory.
Citizens with symptomatology, i.e. cough, runny nose, fever, shortness of breath, aosmia, tastelessness and dysgeia, are also encouraged to contact their Personal Physician for further investigation.
We're in a marathon and the finish is still a long way off. Individual protection and social distancing measures are for the time being our only shield of protection in the difficult battle against the invisible enemy of the pandemic.
