CRIMINAL CONVICTIONS FOR VIOLATING INFECTIOUS DISEASES ACT

5.8.20

The Famagusta District Court, which met yesterday in Paralimni, imposed fines on those responsible for premises in relation to a violation of the Law on Infectious Cleansing.

In particular, fines of €2000, €2000 and €3000 were imposed on three premises managers respectively in Ayia Napa, because in the first two cases they allowed regulars not to be in the table seats and to stand up in the premises and dance, while in the third case, they also served regulars in addition to the permitted number, in violation of the decrees on the Infectious Sitting Act.

Two of the above premises were reported by the Police on 25/07/20 and the cases were registered before the Court of Justice on 28/07/20, while the third was reported on 30/07/20 and the case was registered with the Court on the same day.

It should be noted that when the above cases were registered, the Police applied and the Court issued provisional decrees suspending the work of the above premises. As a result, they were out of service until the conviction of their officers yesterday 04/08/20.
