STICK TO PERSONAL PROTECTION MEASURES, MINISTER SAYS

in-cyprus 8 July 2020 -ByBouli Hadjioannou

Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou on Wednesday urged the public to continue to take personal protective measures against the coronavirus as the best protection pending the discovery of a vaccine.

In statements after a meeting with Disy president Averof Neophytou, the minister noted that the virus was still among us and personal protection was essential.

For his part, Neophytou congratulated the minister and his team, as part of the Anastasiades government, in their successful handling of the coronavirus outbreak.

The minister, he added, was the first violin in an excellent orchestra conducted by President Nicos Anastasiades.

The minister spoke of a collective effort, and noted that the difficult decisions had been taken by the president, after listening to the advice of experts and colleagues in the Council of Ministers. And he thanked Disy for their support and assistance.

Ioannou said that authorities had listened to the experts and “it appears that so far we are doing very well.”

But what was important is to continue to do well.

“We must take the necessary personal protection measures and if we stick to them we have no reason to be concerned in the next months until a vaccine is found and we can finally say that we are free of this pandemic,” he said.
