FOUR NEW CASES TODAY

With regard to new cases of COVID-19 disease, according to data from the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health, a total of 1,789 laboratory diagnoses identified 4 cases of SARS-CoV-2.

In detail, virus-positive individuals emerged as follows:

  • Of 714 samples taken through a private initiative, 3 cases occurred.
  • Of 268 samples taken under the control programme of 10,000 workers re-active during the second and third phase of the strategy for phasing out restrictions, 1 case was identified.

These are 3 people who emerged from a private initiative. All three had symptoms. Two are in Limassol.

The fourth person was identified by the 10,000-employee program. This is a person who works in the cleaning of a hotel unit. It's asymptomatic.

We also have a person who is being treated in a ward at Nicosia General Hospital who will probably be transferred to Famagusta tomorrow. 5 people are also hospitalized in Famagusta, one in MAF.

In addition, the following laboratory diagnoses were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • From samples taken as part of the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics, 74 laboratory tests were completed,
  • From samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases, 162 laboratory diagnoses were carried out,
  • From samples taken in the context of passenger and repatriated checks, 465 laboratory diagnoses were completed,
  • Of the samples taken by the residents of Kato Pyrgos Tylliria, 4 laboratory diagnoses were completed, and
  • From the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 102 laboratory tests were carried out.

On the basis of today's data, the total number of positive cases amounted to 1,084.

At the same time, one person is being treated in a ward at the Nicosia General Hospital. Five people are being treated at Famagusta General Hospital, the reference hospital, one of them in the Increased Care Unit. The state of health of all six hospitalized patients is stable.
