TRANSPORT MINISTRY ISSUES INSTRUCTIONS FOR BUSES, TAXIS

in-cyprus 3 May 2020 - ByBouli Hadjioannou

Buses can only carry half the number of passengers they have capacity for, while there are restrictions also on the number of passengers that can travel in a taxi, the Transport Ministry has clarified as Cyprus prepares to ease the lockdown.
It said that as from Monday, May 4, bus companies (those that charge a fare) as well as shuttles and other coaches can carry half the number of passengers they have room for.
The scrapping of bus itineraries on Sundays and holidays continues.
For taxis, those that have room for four passengers can carry a maximum of two (excluding the driver). Bigger taxis can carry a maximum of three passengers (excluding the driver).

Updated instructions have been issued to protect passengers and employees. These include personal protection measures for the driver (glove, mask and be able to respond if a passenger shows Covid-19 like symptoms).
The instructions also include measures the company must take to inform and protect passengers and employees, as well as how to deal with possible Covid-19 cases.
