SEVEN NEW CASES OF COVID-19, TOTAL NOW 850-

The Health Ministry’s expert scientists announced on Thursday 7 new cases of coronavirus, one more from the six reported yesterday, out of a total of 2454 diagnostic tests, raising the total number to 850 (including 10 in the British Bases).
Dr Leontios Kostrikis said that today’s numbers preserve the picture that allowed the easing of restrictive measures. He said that this period will be more difficult in the sense that we need to be more careful
The results are:

  • None from the large-scale 20,000 tests among workers (306 tests today)
  • 4 through tracing of the contacts of positive cases  (195 tests today)
  • None from public hospital labs (237 tests today)
  • One from repatriations (470 test today)
  • One from private initiative (780 tests today)
  • One from testing of public hospital staff (96 tests today)
  • None from 2,000 tests of workers in the food and drink sector and elderly homes (370 tests today)
From the 20,000 tests since April 11, a total of 17907 have been completed.
At 3 pm on Thursday, there were 14 patients at Famagusta Hospital, one of them in the increased care unit. All are in stable condition. One was discharged.
There are four intubated patients in ICUs, three at Nicosia Hospital and one at Limassol Hospital. Another two patients are in Nicosia Hospital ICU, but are not intubated. Their condition is described as critical but stable.
In addition, there are five confirmed Covid-19 cases in hospital wards other than Famagusta Hospital.
