QUEUES AS PAPHOS, LARNACA SOCIAL INSURANCE OFFICES REMAIN CLOSED

in-cyprus 4 May 2020 - By Bouli Hadjioannou

It has been a bumpy start for some government offices with the Larnaca and Paphos correspondents of CyBC reporting that the social insurance offices of both towns have not yet opened today because staff have not been issued masks.
They said there were lines of people outside — some of them wishing to pay their social insurance contributions and many others seeking word on why they have not received their allowances.
It remains unclear when the two offices will open.
Today sees phase one of the gradual relaxation of the lockdown and the wider public sector, as well as shops and construction sites are back at work.
The Health Ministry has issued instructions that all businesses and agencies that come into contact with the public must adhere to strict rules. Staff must wear masks and there must be no more than one person per eight square metres.
