A plea for help.
PAWS dog shelter (CAPCA) has never asked for help, we have always raised funds to support our dogs at the shelter by holding fundraising events and though our Charity Shop, both of which have been extremely successful over the many years of operating.
Unfortunately as we are all aware, these last few weeks have been unprecedented times, never seen before by the majority of us in our lifetimes. We continue to function with a reduction of volunteers caring for over 140 dogs and puppies, but with no funds coming in we are in need of some basic items. Puppy food, biscuits, pasta, bleach and strong dustbin liners are running low at the Shelter. If anybody would like to donate some of these items we would be so grateful. We can arrange a place of pickup or drop off (social distancing considered!) we have two volunteers in the area Cathi 99298522 for the Tala area, or Sue on 99320631 for the Kamares area that you may contact to arrange a pickup.
George at "My Pets" Chloraka is also a drop off point for PAWS donations and is happy to take items on behalf of PAWS.
I am sure that many of you on your restricted outings have noticed "Hattie" the female hound near the Vrasidas Taverna and some of you may have stopped to give food or water. Hattie, as named by one of our volunteers, has eluded capture for many, many months (years) by our very patient volunteers, she's a very clever girl, but sadly needs to be caught before she falls pregnant again. We will continue to try and achieve this so she can join her male friend and I'm sure you remember the male hound that used to accompany her around the village. This dog is now at PAWS and is doing extremely well and has adjusted to life in the Shelter, enjoying his fuss and attention. You many not have been aware but this dog is totally blind and relied on Hattie to keep him safe....what an incredible little lady she is! We will keep you updated if we are successful in her capture.
We thank you for taking the time to read this and trust you all remain safe and well.
