A young man wanted for burglaries in Paphos tried to evade arrest by climbing to the roof, but was apprehended after police fired warning shots in the air, CyBC reports.
It said the incident took place at Mesogi last night.
Police had obtained an arrest warrant a few days earlier. Last night, they went to a house in the community after a tip off that the suspect was there with a close family member.
But the 27 year old tried to escape, climbing on to the roof and attempting to jump on the roof of a neighbouring house.
Police fired warning shots in the air and the suspect was apprehended.
In statement, police said they had fired four warning shots.
They said the suspect is wanted for five burglaries of shops in Paphos from March 28 to April 16.
Four other people — aged 19, 31, 22 and 21 — are already in police custody in relation to the same cases.
