A large fire broke out at midday in the Mia Milia area in Turkish-held north Cyprus, with black smoke visible from many parts of the divided capital.
The fire is understood to have broken out at a rubbish dump in the industrial area and was fanned by strong winds.
A house that was used by workers in the area was engulfed by the flames.
