Labour inspectors on Friday closed two construction sites in Paphos and one in Limassol after carrying out 51 inspections on compliance with health protocols to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
In the past two weeks since the construction sector went back to work, inspectors have closed down 57 construction sites and issued 14 out of court fines.
Today, the inspectors also carried out 643 checks of shops where they found a satisfactory level of compliance although there were cases where there was unsatisfactory signage, particularly on the floor.
Compliance at construction sites was fair, but some did not have the necessary washing and hygiene facilities.
Since May 4 when the first stage of the relaxation of the lockdown started, inspectors have carried out 7,250 checks — 6,255 in retail trade and 995 at construction sites.
Checks will continue and inspectors will impose the penalties provided by law — out of court fines, prosecution in court and suspension of operations, an official announcement said.
