Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou briefed on Thursday the House standing committee on Health of the government’s decision to move ahead with plans to launch phase two of Gesy (GHS) on June 1 of this year.
In a Twitter thread on Thursday evening, Ioannou noted that “the time frame is extremely tight, but we will make it.”
Ioannou said that he briefed the health committee yesterday on plans to launch phase two on June 1 as planned prior to the outbreak in the presence of the president of the Health Insurance Organisation, noting that “we are going ahead with it despite issues and delays brought about by Coronavirus, with small adjustments for a transition period.”
According to Ioannou, “a large number of scheduled surgeries has piled up as they had been postponed due to the outbreak, thus adding to the urgency of launching phase two of Gesy.”
