COVID-19 - A ROUND UP OF DEVELOPMENTS IN CYPRUS

One more person with Coronavirus has died, the medical experts said on Wednesday, the second one in two days.
Only two more tested positive yesterday in the official numbers of the Health Ministry, as the British Bases announced another case in their community on Thursday, the second one this week.
Yesterday was the first day of sampling at schools as part of the government’s mass testing of 20,000 school pupils and staff in view of the gradual reopening of schools that started this week. Collection of samples in education will continue today at five more schools, with many more scheduled in for Friday.

One of the government’s health experts said yesterday that given the latest test results, Cyprus can move to Stage Two in the gradual easing of the lockdown as authorities are considering whether to allow concerts, cultural and music festivals after July 14 as part of Stage 4 of the gradual easing of restrictions.
Meanwhile, long waiting lists are forming at the island’s hair and beauty salons due to open on May 21 by customers eager to secure their treatment after two months.
A medical supplies cargo flying from China to Cyprus has safely landed in Larnaca after the aircraft was diverted by Turkish authorities who blocked it from flying through its airspace.
