PAPHOS HOSPITAL KITCHEN CLOSES AFTER 5 COVID-19 CASES

in-cyprus 18 April 2020 - by Bouli Hadjioannou

The kitchens of Paphos Hospital are being disinfected after the state health services organisation (Okypi) said that five staff there had tested positive for coronavirus.
Food is being brought in from the private sector because the kitchen is closed.
Okypi said the relevant protocol has been activated, employees have been sent home to self-isolate and disinfection and tracing of contacts is underway.

Six Okypi personnel were among the 15 new coronavirus cases announced yesterday. Five work in the Paphos Hospital kitchen and the sixth is a health professional, again from Paphos Hospital, who has been in compulsory self-isolation the past 14 days after coming into contact with a confirmed case.
All six tested positive during the second test. A total of 472 Paphos and Polis Chrysochous staff members underwent second tests.
There are currently nine patients in Paphos Hospital’s ward for suspect cases — five men and four women aged between 53 and 83 — pending the results of their tests by the Cyprus Institute for Neurology and Genetics.
