NO INCIDENTS OF DRUG-LACED MASKS USED TO ROB HOMES, POLICE SAYS

in-cyprus 26 April 2020 -ByConstantinos Tsintas

There have been no cases of protective masks laced with drug substances being used to rob homes, police clarified today, following a warning circulating as a message on Facebook and phone apps, claiming that would-be thieves are allegedly going from door to door appearing to sell protective masks and asking people to try them on, so they can rob them.
Police noted that no such incident has been reported in Cyprus, nor is there any indication or any complaint filed about anything like that or similar to it happening on the island. The warning has circulated in many countries, without any details on where these robberies have taken place and how thieves are conning people.
Authorities are assuring the public that there is no cause for concern, but ask that they remain vigilant and if they should notice anything suspicious that seems to be connected with this warning or something similar, they must immediately contact police on 199 / 112 or the Citizens Hotline on 1460.
