in-cyprus 28 April 2020 - Josephine Koumettou
The autopsy performed on Tuesday on the body of a 20-year-old Syrian man murdered on April 10 on Chlorakas beach revealed that the victim was stabbed 17 times in various parts of his body and bled to death, philenews reports.
The autopsy was performed at the Nicosia Hospital morgue 18 days following the murder due to Coronavirus measures, namely scientific reports that the virus remains active for several days after death.
Eight Syrian men are in custody as suspects for the murder, and a ninth Syrian, also in custody, is expecting trial at the Criminal Court set for June 3.
Another two men from Syria aged 22 and 25 are still wanted by police, who are suspected of stabbing the victim to death and then discarding the body in a reed bed.
According to the police, the nine men in custody also actively participated in the murder, while they also contributed to the disappearance of evidence and the transport of the two wanted men to Nicosia so that they could escape to the occupied territories.
