A call centre has been set up for those who cannot use the 8998 SMS service to obtain permission to leave the house under the stay at home decree.
The deputy ministry for research, innovation and digital policy said the new centre can be used only by:
- those who have a foreign provider as the SMS service does not accept messages from foreign numbers
- members of the public who have difficulty securing permission through the SMS service
The service will be available from 6 am to 9 pm in Greek and English as follows:
For Cyprus numbers: 80012012
For foreign numbers: +357 22 263030
The call centre will service calls through automated IVR (Interactive Voice Response). It will only accept calls made on mobile phones.
Those requesting permission through this service will receive a reply by SMS on their mobile phones.
