ANOTHER 212 BOOKED FOR BREAKING STAY AT HOME DECREE

Another 212 people were booked for breaking the stay at home decree overnight, a police spokesman told CyBC radio on Wednesday morning.
He added that police had also broken up a gathering of 24 people, mostly foreign nationals, in a Larnaca apartment. The decree prohibits gatherings, saying that only residents can be in a each home.
From 6 pm on Tuesday to 6 am on Wednesday, police carried out 2558 checks islandwide concerning the stay at home decree. A total of 212 were booked.
Nicosia: 715 checks, 57 booked
Limassol: 505 checks, 20 booked
Larnaca: 370 checks, 83 booked
Paphos: 85 checks, 14 booked
Famagusta: 540 checks, 29 booked
Morphou: 74 checks, 2 booked
Police HQ traffic unit: 240 checks 5 booked
MMAD: 28 checks 2 booked
The spokesman said police would later give a breakdown on how many of the 212 were after 9 pm, when a curfew is in force for everyone except essential workers.
The spokesman said that police had also carried out 1352 checks on premises. None were found to be in violation.
Asked whether there were incident  of  people holding parties — the latest decree in force since 6 am on Tuesday prohibits gatherings at homes — he said there was one case in Larnaca where police had found 24 people partying in an apartment, most of them foreign nationals.

They were all issued on the spot fines.
