Health inspectors carried out 663 checks of food sale businesses in the week of April 13-18 and found 34 were in violation decrees introduced to contain the coronavirus outbreak.
The inspections followed instructions from Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou for visits to premises to check compliance with the decrees.
The violations mostly related to inadequate signage and the two metres distancing rules among the public, at cashiers and in the queue outside.
Moreover, violations were also found in the compulsory use by staff of gloves and masks.
In all cases, the businesses complied with the guidance of the health inspectors with one exception where the police was called in.
