HEALTH PROFESSIONALS MORE THAN HALF THE CASES IN PAPHOS

Twenty six out of the 41 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Paphos so far in total, are health professionals, most working at the Paphos General Hospital, and three being doctors in private institutions.
Paphos Hospital management told CNA that cases include six doctors, a pulmonologist, a radiologist, a surgeon, a paeditrician, an orthodopaedic and an intensive care unit doctor, 4 men and two women.
The pulmonologist, head of the Paphos General Pulmonary Clinic, is improving at the Intensive Care Unit of the Limassol Hospital, while the Paphos Hospital surgeon at the referral hospital in Famagusta, is also doing well.
Infections at the hospital include 20 members of the nursing staff, two cleaners and a hospital worker.
Two patients who contracted the virus at the Paphos hospital, a 70 year old and a 63 year old, have since died, while a further two have fully recovered. A fifth patient, a woman, is one of the new confirmed cases as announced yesterday by the Health Ministry.

Four confirmed cases are relatives of the health professionals.
