If you have not yet formalised your residency, it is understood that Immigration are currently
handing out interview dates for June. There is around a 6 month delay in issuing MEU3
[permanent residency] paperwork. It is essential that you formalise your residency, or start the process, before 31 December 2020. From that date, you will be classed as a third country
national and will have to undergo a more rigorous immigration process. The MEU1 and MEU3
are the only residency permits which Cyprus will now recognise. Any old 'permanent residency' stamps in passports are no longer valid.
Please remember that if you do not formalise your residency, from 1 January 2021 you will only
be able to stay in Cyprus for a period of up to 90 days.
In addition, if you have been living in Cyprus for in excess of 5 years and have never applied for a temporary residency [MEU1 or yellow slip] then if you have supporting paperwork you can apply
for an MEU1 and an MEU3 at the same time.
