Tougher lockdown rules come into force at 6 am on Tuesday, with members of the public only allowed to send one SMS to leave the house under exception.
People over 65 are allowed to use the printed form or hand written statement, but everyone else must send a text request.
But, as in the case of most rules, there are exceptions. Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou clarified this afternoon that the ‘one a day’ rule does not apply for visits to the pharmacy or doctor, to give blood, to assist people who need care and to drive a soldier to the National Guard.
