CORONAVIRUS -779 PEOPLE QUARANTINED IN 7 HOTELS

779 people who returned to Cyprus from abroad from 16-21 March 2020 have been placed in isolation at seven Cyprus hotels, the Ministry of Health said in a statement, noting that it is coordinating on a 24-hour basis through its Coordination Center for necessary actions for the most comfortable and safe transportation and accommodation of people in isolation in hotels.
"As part of measures taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the Ministry of Health informs that from the entry into force of the Decree of the Minister of Health on Monday, March 16, 2020, the afternoon until the last flight before its end. decree at 3am On March 21, 2020, 779 persons were placed in quarantine, who returned to Cyprus from abroad, "the Ministry said in a statement.

These people, it added, were held in isolation for a period of 14 days at seven Cyprus hotels.



The Ministry of Health also informs the public that it has set up a Coordination Center, which coordinates the following actions, for the most comfortable and safe transport and accommodation of people in isolation in hotels:


  • 24-hour coordination for the safe transportation of citizens arriving at Larnaca and Paphos airports, which will be isolated in hotels, in cooperation with a private transport company contracted with the Ministry of Health for this purpose, Hermes, which operates the Larnaca and Paphos airports, the Police and the Zeno Coordination and Rescue Coordination Center.
  • 24-hour coordination for the safe transportation of civilians arriving at Larnaca and Paphos airports, who have either recently undergone surgery or are suffering from serious illness, or accompanying children, to be isolated in their homes in collaboration with nursing staff the Larnaca and Paphos airports and the private transport company contracted with the Ministry of Health for this purpose.
  • 24-hour co-ordination for the most comfortable and secure stay in hotels in isolation, in collaboration with the management of each hotel for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as for the personalized service of each person in seclusion in hotels.
  • Strict adherence to the rules of isolation in collaboration with the National Guard (guarding the exterior - hotel entrances / exits), with a private security company (guarding the interiors, contracted with the Ministry of Health and the Police).
  • Working with the Volunteer Commissioner on the purchase and distribution of personal hygiene kits, cleaners, etc., to any person in isolation.
  • Informing people in solitary confinement in hotels by Health Visitors of all issues related to the coronary, strict adherence to the rules of isolation to prevent the spread of coronavirus, as well as their thermometry.
  • 24-hour coordination to provide immediate medical care to those who need it, in collaboration with the Prisoners' Personal Practitioners and the OKYPY Personal Practitioners, as well as the supply of medicines for those taking medicines and their stock.
  • 24-hour co-ordination for the immediate resolution of problems that may arise with visits by Ministry of Health staff to hotels, recording of problems in cooperation with each hotel management and direct communication of these officers with the Ministry of Health Coordination Center.
  • Providing all hotels that accommodate people in isolation, consumables (gloves, masks and antiseptics).
  • 24-hour coordination with the Crisis Management Centers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Guard and the Police.
