For the purpose of protecting its members, as well as the public, who come into contact with the
Police, the Police of Cyprus proceeds with additional protection measures by the coronavirus.
Additional measures include cases where the public visits police premises and regulates, inter alia,
visits of detainees to police custody, the issuance of a white criminal record certificate and the
registration / transfer of weapons.
It has been decided, for protection purposes, that visits to prisoners are prohibited, except in
exceptional cases. As a compensation and for the purpose of avoiding unnecessary visits, the
telephone communication of prisoners will be further facilitated.
At the Police Directorate Offices, the issuance of white criminal record certificates and others
will be limited to urgent and exceptional cases. Boxes for the receipt and processing of such
requests will be placed in the relevant provincial offices for the purpose of issuing such certificates,
in order to avoid contact with members of the Police.
The supply of services related to the registration, and / or transfer of weapons, except in exceptional
cases, shall be suspended.
In addition, the Police call on the public to restrict unnecessary visits to Police Stations or Offices
for their own purposes. This can be done by telephone, especially in the case of common current
issues that require information or information.
The purpose of the above additional measures is to protect the public and the police from the
coronavirus, but also to maintain, as far as possible, the operational readiness of the Police to
respond to the serious and urgent issues it has to deal with.
