After demolition of the structures on the top level, work is proceeding according to plan. A retaining wall is in the course of construction and works are underway to shore up and support the road. Demolition of the lower structure will then go ahead.
Due to the nature of the works being undertaken, the contractors are reacting to anything uncovered as they excavate - for example, as excavations were underway, a large quantity of water was found and this had to be diverted and provision made for adequate and suitable drainage.
Once the contractors can give an idea of timescale regarding opening up of the road, further information will be provided.
