It has been observed that various emails have been lately sent to various e-mail holders or
SMS-type messages or announcements on social media platforms for alleged gifts, offers or
last-minute opportunities to prevent various benefits. Messages often use the emblems or
logos of various companies such as airlines, furniture companies or other similar companies
These messages in their entirety are delusional and malicious and are in no way the tactic
applied by official authorities. The public is urged to be especially careful when receiving
such messages and in no way respond to the sender as well as NOT to pay any money. In addition,
they need to change their password and use the latest malware and the latest updates to their
computer's operating system.
The Cybercrime Bureau is available to the public or companies to report a complaint and the
public is invited to visit the Police website www.police.gov.cy under cybercrime, for reporting.
