The government is extending its free dog microchipping programme at district veterinary offices, the Agriculture Ministry said on Wednesday as it urged all those interested to participate.
In an announcement headlined: “These holidays give your dogs a microchip as a gift — it’s free with the Pancyrian Microchipping and Registration Programme” the ministry said that the scheme has now been extended until March 31, 2020.
Launched last July, it allows owners to microchip their dogs for free. Once micrcochipped dogs are registered with the Veterinary Services along with the details of their owner. The aim is to help deal with the problem of lost and abandoned dogs.
The microchipping and registration of the dogs on the register is being carried out for free by the veterinary services on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8.30 am and 2 pm at their district offices as follows:

The owner of the dog is required to show an ID, the completed form, and the dog’s updated vaccination booklet.
Those who bring dogs that do not belong to them must have the ID of the owner and a written authorisation.
