It is not yet known if the planned local government reorganisation will proceed as the bills have still to be presented to Parliament.
However, it is likely that Tala will be in a village group consisting of Tala, Tremithousa, Mesogi and Mesa Chorio.
It is anticipated that the current mukhtars and council members will remain in place for an additional two years after their official term of office would have ceased to see through the changes.
There will then be local elections in 2024 timed to coincide with the European Elections. At that time, communities will be asked to elect a community leader. The community leaders will then form a committee in their village group. Council members will cease to exist. It is likely that some functions will be centralised [presumeably in Paphos for ourselves] following the reorganisation.
Parliament, the Unions, the various political parties et al will no doubt all have a view and wish to make changes.
The process has made more progress this time compared to last but there is still a long way to go! Information will be released once it is available.
