UK RESIDENTS RIGHTS IN THE EVENT OF A ' NO DEAL' BREXIT

Below is a link to a document published by the Cypriot Government setting out rights of UK residents in the event of a 'No Deal' Brexit.

Please note that:
- only MEU1, MEU2 and MEU3 documents will be recognised - any stamps in passports or other 'residency' permit are no longer recognised
-Residency is simpler to obtain as 'European Citizens'
-Applications in the Immigration process up to 31 October will be processed
-after a No Deal Brexit, post 31 October, UK citizens will be classed as Third World Nationals - obtaining residency will not be as simple, guarantees may be required, and the process is likely to be more expensive and lengthier

Immigration Department are trying to process applications from UK citizens as quickly as possible.   If you go down to Immigration with your passport they will tell you what documents you are required to bring to Immigration.   Allegedly they are seeing people now without an appointment, but this means that you will have to queue to be seen so be prepared for a lengthy wait.

If you do not obtain the relevant MEU1/2 and/or MEU3, then your rights will not be protected.  In addition, when you next enter Cyprus you will only be allowed to stay here for up to 90 days in any 180 day period.

Please remember to take your MEU1 or MEU3 with you when you travel in case you are required to show this on return to Cyprus
