As a reminder this tax is the local Immovable Property Tax payable to the local council - the sum payable is minimal. The central Government Immovable Property Tax was scrapped a few years ago.
Regarding the local Immovable Property Tax, I am pleased to advise that payment this year can now be made on JCC Smart and invoices are in the course of issue.
However, please note that JCC have yet to upload the disc onto their system so please do not attempt to pay on JCC for the next few days. I would suggest from Monday 14th October onwards to allow time for the information to be loaded. Once it is loaded, please scroll down - there will now be the following categories:
- Taxes, ie Rates and refuse charge
- Water - for those on Tala water
- Real Estate - for Immovable Property Tax
There is also an error in the invoice - in the small print under Notes it says that 'refusal to pay after 31/03/19 legal action will be taken'. This should read 9/12/19. If payment has not been made by this date, then penalties will apply and if payment is still not made, legal action will be taken.
For those who have acquired their title deeds during the last 12 months, if you do not receive an invoice for the tax, please call into the office with your title deeds, so that the tax can be calculated manually.
