Continuing its efforts to prevent and reduce serious and fatal traffic crashes and within the
framework of the European Day Without Traffic Deaths, EDWARD, launched on September 26th,
launched a mechanical control campaign today.
The purpose of the campaign, carried out in collaboration with the Department of Road Transport,
is to prevent and prevent fatal and other serious road crashes with trucks and buses and to
effectively tackle traffic accidents that can be perpetrated by drivers of such vehicles.
During the campaign the following were checked:
* Driver and vehicle documents
* Speed of trucks and buses
* Speed limiters
* Driving / working hours
* Tachographs (analogue and digital devices) and
* Mechanical status of trucks and bus.

Of the 48 trucks and buses inspected, eleven complaints of various offenses were made.
