POLICE SPEED CONTROL CAMPAIGN - 12-25 August

11/08/2019 13:02:00

Excessive speed is one of the main causes of traffic accidents. It has been described as one of the four so-called 'asphalt
killers', since it is the third most common cause of fatal road crashes in our country.

Precisely in order to demonstrate this problem and raise public awareness, the Police are announcing a nationwide
speed control campaign, which will start tomorrow, Monday, August 12, and end on Sunday, August 25, 2019.

Note that the first week (12 -18 August, 2019), this campaign will also be carried out at European level, in the framework
of the cooperation of the Cyprus Police with the European Traffic Police Network TISPOL.

During the campaign, in addition to vehicle speeds, other traffic offenses will also be monitored, with a particular focus
on those that have proven to contribute to traffic accidents. At the same time, emphasis will also be given to the
underlying black spots on the road network as well as to other areas that may be considered problematic.
