The 15th of August is a challenging year for the Police every year. The increased traffic on the roads, as well as the
increasing number of property offenses occurring during this period, create increased needs and obligations for the
Police.
In this context, the Police have drawn up and put in place, from 14 to 19 August, specific action plans to address these
increased needs.
Police planning involves increased police presence on the main highways of the road, for the purpose of providing
relief to the excursors, but also for the purpose of preventing traffic accidents. Members of the Traffic Police
Headquarters, as well as the Provincial Traffic Departments, will be at key points in the road network, with the
aim of immediate intervention and facilitating the smooth running of traffic where necessary, and of conducting
frequent checks to prevent traffic accidents. , which have proven to be the main causes of fatal and serious traffic
accidents.
During this period, particular emphasis will be given to alcohol-related offenses, excessive speed and dangerous
overtaking, failure to use seat belts and safety helmets, and dangerous / negligent driving.
At the same time, due to the high incidence of burglaries and thefts that occur during such a period each year, the
Police are taking measures to protect and protect citizens and their property. Throughout the period of August 15th,
the Police are taking additional security measures by motorized and pedestrian patrols, both in cities and in the
countryside. In addition, increased measures will also be taken in public transport areas (shopping streets, crowded
places and resorts), in order to prevent and combat any form of illegal activity.
But in addition to the measures taken by the Police, the public is called upon to take its own measures, both for its
own safety and for the protection of its property. Drivers are urged to be extremely careful and patient in their
movements and adhere strictly to road traffic codes to prevent traffic collisions. The public is also invited, in his
absence, to take his own safeguards so that his return will not come before negative surprises.
