IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR TALA RESIDENTS - WARNING OF FURTHER TRAFFIC DISRUPTION 26-28 June

In an effort to improve, as far as is practically possible as the Council has very limited options, the roads used currently as part of the diversion for Kamares residents, please note that there will be additional diversions in place and possible disruption to traffic from today until the end of the week.

There will be signs in place and workers to control traffic flow, but as we have limited options we would ask please for your understanding and co-operation.

They have started stripping some of the road surfaces, with the asphalting to start on Thursday and continue on Friday.   On Friday, Kampou Mesomerenas, Verginas [these are the two very steep roads] and Agias Aikaterinis [the road from Vrasidas into the village and past Mario's Bar] will be asphalted, one after the other.

Our budget for road works has been cut this year and, due to the closure of the main road into Kamares, it has been decided that the budget will, as far as is possible, be used to improve, where feasible, the diversion roads used by Kamares residents.   The list of roads below therefore supersedes any previous lists circulated re road works for 2019.

The works to be carried out will be as follows, with the Kamares roads affected in bold:

  1. Part of Agias Aikaterinis str. by the ravine next to Vrasidas Tavern - Resurface and widening
  2. Mesomerenas - part of the road that was dug out to construct a storm drain.
  3. Verginas - from the junction with Korallion, up to the point that includes the half width part of the road.
  4. Kamares - Englistras str. From the junction with Kamares Ave. up to the turn of Laoniou str.
  5. Perama -  Outside Tala Olympia down to the turn of Kalaitzi.
  6. Rododafnis - from 2K BAR down to Anedron.
  7. Lofos - Pellapaisiou  the whole length.
It is recommended that Kamares residents, where possible, either enter and exit Kamares from Kili, or as they come down Verginas, turn RIGHT [LEFT would take you towards the village], and at the cross roads either turn left and follow the narrow road which goes down into the ravine and takes you to Perama [turn right as you emerge from the ravine and you can then follow the road along and come out opposite the new Pafillia development, or turn right at the little church and head to Kissonerga].

The alternative is to go straight ahead at the cross roads mentioned above and follow the road round past the new cemetery, eventually go down into the ravine, and emerge on Skalin - go up past the large block of apartments [Tala Olympia], turn right at the T junction and then at the next cross roads [the Kissonerga road] you have the option to either go Left to go back up towards the village and the little church, or right and head towards Kissonerga.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
