GESY - MESSAGE FROM THE BRITISH HIGH COMMISSION

Important update on Cyprus' General Health Scheme (GeSY) ΓεΣΥ - Οργανισμός Ασφάλισης Υγείας:

The Health Insurance Organisation (HIO) informs all EU citizens who are working in Cyprus and who have not updated their record in Social Insurance Services (SIS) with their Alien Registration Certificate (ARC) number to proceed in doing so, in order to be able to proceed with their GHS registration.

It is important that they do not choose the category “S1 document holder” unless they
are in possession of the portable S1 document, as this will delay their GHS registration process.
Please also note that the existing health system will operate in parallel to the new GHS scheme until the 31st of August and all set appointments will be still valid. Thus if you haven't enrolled until then, you will be able to receive health services the same way as you do today.

We remind you that HIO officially announced that anyone who registers for GeSY will be entitled to apply for European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), which will ensure them free EU-wide healthcare.

As GeSY is a local initiative/process and does not in any way belong to Her Majesty’s Government or the British High Commission, any queries or issues with registration should be directed to them - they are very receptive to emails:  info@gesy.org.cy and calls to: 17000.
