FREE DENTAL CHECK-UPS ON WEDNESDAY [20/3]

Cyprus Mail 18 March 2019 - article by staff reporter

Free dental check-ups will be offered on Wednesday by health ministry dentists on the occasion of World Oral Health Day.
The four mobile dental units will be available next to the general hospitals of Nicosia, Limassol, Paphos and Famagusta. Private dentists will also offer free examinations by appointment.
According to a statement, the action is part of the health ministry’s campaign to raise public awareness about the importance of preventive dental check-ups.
Recent research shows though there has been an improvement in the level of oral health in Cyprus still more needs to be done.
“Prevention is the cornerstone of the promotion of oral health and to this end, the dental services of the Ministry of Health have in recent years intensified the preventive programmes they offer, covering the classes of public primary and secondary schools as well as private primary schools in the last three years,” the announcement said.
World Oral Health Day has been established by the International Federation of Dentists (FDI) and is marked every year on March 20. This year the slogan is ‘Say Ahh! Act on Mouth Health’, a slogan that aims to raise awareness.

People should brush their teeth at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste for at least two minutes, limit sugar consumption and regularly visit their dentist.
