BEWARE OF MALICIOUS EMAILS

From Cyprus Police:

20/03/2019 12:53:00

The attention of all e-mail account holders, so as not to be the victims of electronic fraud, draws the Police
Headquarters Anti-Corruption Bureau.

According to complaints made to the Police, protesters send several emails (emails) to various e-mail addresses, which
are reported to have been sent by a competent US authority. The message states that the owner of the e-mail address
has been identified to deal with illegal activities and for this purpose they ask that the owner give enough personal details
and transfer a large sum of money to a Bitcoin address. (Sample of email attached)

These messages are, in their totality, deceptive and malicious, and in no case is the tactic practiced by official
authorities.

The public is therefore urged to be particularly careful when receiving such messages and in no case to reply to
the sender as well as NOT TO PAY any amount of money. Additionally, they need to change their password and use
latest malware programs and the latest updates on their computer's operating system.

The public can contact the Anti-Corruption Bureau for reporting a complaint through the online complaint /
information reporting platform on cybercrime on the Police Web site www.police.gov.cy as part of cybercrime.
