ETERNAL VOYAGES - Paphos Harbour - 1 July

From Cyprus Mail - article by Maria Gregoriou 28 June 2017

According to the organisers of European Capital of Culture Pafos2017, the highlight of the summer events will peak on Saturday with an outdoor performance based on one of the prevailing themes of the cultural programme, world travellers.

The spectacular outdoor event, which will take place on and around Paphos castle and harbour, uses natural elements as its dramatic backdrop to tell the stories of three travellers descending on Paphos by land, sea and air.

The piece Eternal Voyages was created by UK outdoor arts company Walk the Plank, who also created the opening ceremony for the Pafos2017 events entitled A Work of Art in January, in partnership with artists from Paphos.

Eternal Voyages tells a dramatic narrative through projection, high quality digital animation and mapping accompanied by heightened dramatic moments of live performance including poetical text and song – both in English and Greek.

Celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Paphos, the show also includes dance, mass choreography, processional performance, acrobatics, a water spectacle, dynamic lighting and sound design accompanied by an original musical score and special effects including a pyrotechnic final. All this in just one show proves why it is rightly named the highlight of the summer events.
