As the tourist season gets underway, this is an ideal time for opportunists to target properties in Tala.
If you see something out of place or strange, please report it to the Police and to myself [Cathi on toffee@primehome.com] or Val Potter at KVHA [kvhasecretary@gmail.com] if you are a Kamares resident. Whatever you see may be something or it may be nothing - but please contact the Police immediately and do not wait days or weeks before mentioning it.
The main target area for break-ins tends to be between 6pm and 10pm, ie the time when most people are out for dinner, etc.
Take a note of car description and registration details - if the same vehicle is spotted several times and there are incidents nearby, it may be linked. Car description is important in addition to registration number as this helps the Police determine if the plates are correct for the vehicle.
Do you know your neighbour and their movements, ie when they are here, or away on holiday? If there is a language problem, please use the Neighbourhood Watch -Get to Know your Neighbour form [available under Security] - share information with your neighbour as this helps safeguard your mutual properties. If you cannot find this form, please email Cathi and a copy will be sent to you.
People look at houses and tour around, but the estate agents here do not tend to give out the address of a property, preferring to accompany viewings. If there is no For Sale sign, report if you see people wandering around a property. Similarly, if there is no For Rent sign.
Ensure all security devices are in place for your vehicle and property whenever they are left unattended. Do not leave valuables openly in view either in your house or in your vehicle.
