PAPHOS SET FOR IMPROVED COASTAL WALKWAY

From incyprus - local news 18 April 2017

The coastal walkway from the Yeroskipou to Kato Paphos is set to be upgraded with a host of new services to the public this summer.
According to Deputy Mayor Christos Makarios, the upgrades promise to promote the walkway as a place of relaxation, exercise and leisurely strolls. The walkway will begin at the Agios Nicolaou church in Yeroskipou and lead up to the Almyra Hotel in Kato Paphos.
Tenders have already been called for the €200,000 project which will include landscaping, lighting and urban furniture and which is expected to be awarded within the next 14 days.
The project is considered especially important as it will include the entire walkway which is visited on a daily basis by a large numbers of locals and tourists.
“Use of the walkway for jogging and walking during the mornings and evenings has risen considerably over the last few years,” said Makarios adding that the lack of lighting along the route had acted as a deterrent for many to enjoy the walkway during the evening.
“With the completion of the project, Paphos will have another landmark.”
