Watch meeting – Thursday 14 April, 5pm
At Church
Hall [underneath the new Church] Tala
GOALS OF THE
PROGRAMME
By launching the
programme Community Watch the Cyprus Police aim to raise awareness among the
public regarding issues of crime prevention and security, both physical and that of
their property.
The cooperation with the public is strengthened on an organised basis. This programme will have an impact
on reducing crime and increasing, the feeling of security among the residents.
Priority is given to the prevention of crimes against property. As you are all aware, burglaries have recently increased in all areas.
The aim of Community Watch is to encourage individuals to keep an eye on each other’s properties, and to report suspicious incidents, vehicles or individuals. However, when criminal activity is suspected, members are encouraged to report to authorities, and not to intervene.

If you are unable to attend, or if you have specific questions
you would like to raise, these can be raised prior to the meeting by sending an
email to Val, Jean or Cathi – by 13 April please. Questions will
then be passed to the Police before the meeting to try to ensure there are no
translation difficulties.
Whilst the presentation will be in
English, and subsequently in Greek, after the presentation there will be
information regarding the scheme on www.talanews.blogspot.com and
users will have the Translate function on that site to convert the text to
their own language. The tab ‘Security Alerts’ on the blog will then be
used to notify anything the Police or other individuals have notified as
suspicious in addition to transmitting such information by email.
