As some of you are aware, regrettably the transfer
to the new refuse contractors has not run smoothly and many people did not have
a collection on Monday. The refuse collectors returned yesterday and most of
the people who were omitted on Monday finally received a collection.
Tala will receive a collection tomorrow, Thursday
10 July, as normal. Thereafter, with effect from the week commencing Monday 14
July, collections will be on a Wednesday and
a Saturday - this means that after tomorrow, the next
collection will be on Wednesday 16 July.
The new contractors combined the collections for
Chlorakas and Tala and this meant that the two largest areas were due for a
collection on the same day. Under the new schedule, Tala will be combined with
Kissonerga and it is hoped that this will mean that the collection area is more
workable. All areas have experienced problems with the new contractor.
Problems are being monitored and if their performance does not improve in the
next couple of weeks, then an alternative contractor will be found.
Please continue to let the office know of any
non-collection on 26 653711. Please also let the office know of any damage
caused to green bins so that the contractor can be held accountable. If you
have already advised Cathi of problems with green bins, she has notified the office
so there is no need to duplicate the notification!
