CRIME ROUND UP

 Pafos Live 1 December 2024

The driver of this car, who "parked" on the railing, on the bridge of Agios Charalambos exited the vehicle unscathed. The outcome, of course, could have been much worse for him since the depth of the stream, on which the bridge on the Emba-Tala road is located, is at least ten meters.

The foreign driver of the vehicle was heading about two hours after midnight from Tala to Paphos when, under circumstances that are being investigated, he lost control of the vehicle which climbed the railing, on the inner side, a few centimeters from the cliff.

The driver managed to get out of the vehicle without being injured. However, he underwent a breathalyzer test, was positive and has already been charged.

More than fifty drivers and two leisure centre managers were reported last night during routine police checks.

The two leisure centers did not have a license to broadcast music. Members of the Pafos Police Department carried out more than two hundred checks on drivers of vehicles and 52 complaints emerged for various violations of the Road Traffic Code.

The complaints include one case of driving under the influence of drugs and three cases of driving under the influence of alcohol.

He added that "members of the Larnaca Police went to the scene where they located the three youths, whom they arrested under court warrants. The three youths are expected to be brought before the Larnaca District Court for a detention order."

As Mr. Hadjigiasemi said, this case and the case concerning clashes that took place in the morning hours yesterday in a nightclub and on a street in Larnaka, resulting in the arrest of two persons, are expected to be completed immediately and registered before the Larnaca District Court next week.

It is recalled that the two arrested persons, aged 29 and 42, were placed today under five-day detention by the Larnaca District Court to facilitate police investigations into an ongoing case of malicious damage, stabbing, possession of an offensive instrument, assault on police officers and resisting arrest.
